They should definitely work retroactively because I often decide on a new group structure after some time because of getting more and more keywords and topics. That’s really disturbing knowing ranking data exists but the charts of new keyword groups don’t know this. Otherwise e.g. a chart raises and it seems as if it changed because of e.g. better rankings but in reality it is just because of adding more keywords (s. screenshot).
